So are you "green?" Do you try to do your part to help protect our planet for future generations by preserving its natural resources? Yes and yes? Sweet!

Now, take a look in the closest mirror and see if you have actually turned green as a way to show the world that you are doing your part! (Yes, I'm kidding...you can put the compact down now.)

But seriously, though, wouldn't the concept of turning green be a great way to help bring home the point of conserving natural resources for our kids? A new book series from The Little Environmentalists does just that, and from a kid's point of view, to boot.

"I'm Turning Green" shows how the little things we do, like turning off the water as we brush our teeth, can make a big diference! Check out Buttercup enjoying the story for the first time as her Abuela reads it to her!  Watch the VIDEO

I love this story, and I am pretty impressed that 18 mth-old Buttercup not only sat through the whole book, but eagerly requested a second reading (and sat through that one, too!)

And in case you're wondering, Little Environemtalists are a company worth promoting. It's refreshing to see a such a positive for kids reinforce the importance of "going green" with their dedication to producing environmentally-friendly products. All books are printed using 100 percent recycled paper that is 1200 percent post-consumer waste and chloring free. And if that wasn't enough, the ink is eco-friendly, too.

I'm Turning Green by The Little Environmentalists is a great tool for sparking conversation, even with young children, about the little choices we make every day that can have a big impact on our world.

Written in the same easy to understand style with the same "filtered" photograph style illustrations as Nature Discovery In My Backyard, I'm Turning Green is meant to be shared with non-readers as well as older children. For educators and parents, the back of the book has a section called Earth Notes which offers more tips and educational facts to supplement the "green" lessons being discussed. As a former elementary school teacher, I would have loved these books in the classroom. They're just right for introducing a unit, and the extra ideas to expand the lesson are always appreciated. The less I had to come up with on my own, the better. I taught fourth and fifth grade, but I can see the benefits of this series extending throughout the elementary school building. The books are simple enough for the young children, but thought-provoking enough to still appeal to older children, too.

It was only a couple of months ago that we reviewed the first book from The Little Environmentalists. Their new book, I’m Turning Green, is perhaps even better than the last.

Retailing for just $7.95, the newly released I’m Turning Green is a great book to educate even the youngest of children about the ways even someone their size can make a positive impact on our beautiful planet. It gives kids tips to conserve energy, water, and natural resources. As a little girl turns green from head to toe, kids learn that the little things that they do around the home can actually help save the planet that they live on. Each page consists of a statement about something a child can do…“I help to recycle our glass, aluminum and paper. What do I see happening to me? All of a sudden I see my arms turning green!” and an additional ‘Did you know?’ fact that can start some great ongoing conversations around environmental protection at the child & family level. We’re thoroughly enjoying this book and I’m sure your family would too. Just be prepared to be nagged whenever you forget to be a good environmental steward.

The Opinionated Parent

I'm Turning Green is a wonderful children's book full of ways to teach your kids how to, well, be green! It's full of ideas that are easy enough for them to do so they'll actually be proud they're making a difference! Before you know it, your 3 year old will be reminding you to turn off the lights when you leave a room, and to turn off the faucet while brushing your teeth!
